Hello Kathryn,
I've been reading this trail with interest. I've been looking up information regarding my grandfather, Sydney Beadle. He was married Feb 12 1906 to Florence Alpe in the district of Lambeth. His father was William John Beadle who was deceased at the time. William was a Wine and Spirit Gauger. Their residence was 41 Bramah Road, Brixton. I can find no record of either man's birth or death. The 1901 census indicates Sydney living with the George Quigley family. The wife's name was Emily and had a daughter named Sarah. I can only guess what caused this situation. Was Sydney orphaned either by parent's death, orphaned due to destitution or was Emily the mother and remarried? Given the fact Lambeth has been mentioned, I wonder if there's a connection somehow our two families and if you might have come across any information. Who knows, we might be related. I'm not totally up to speed on the geography as I'm from Canada. My mother, Evelyn married a Canadian soldier and emigrated here after the war.
