Well, the Battle of Dunbar Sept. 3, 1650 is a fact. That many prisoners were taken by the British is a fact. That some of those prisoners went to Barbados is a fact. That there was a Beale on Barbados in 1679/80 is a fact. That Ninian Beall named one of his properties "Barbadoe" as well as "Largo" and "St. Andrews" and used the trident next to his signature is a fact. That he bought and sold over a hundred parcels in Maryland is a fact (the original real estate "flipper") I believe that his indenturedness to Richard Hall is a fact that is documented in his immigration paperwork (Provincial records, Jan 16, 1667); his freedom from indentureness would also have to be documented someplace.
So we are left with the question of where he was born.
We know where he died and that he left a will.
His body was dug up and removed from Bacon Hall and put in the new grave by the Georgetown memorial in 1910, according to the booklet of that time. Those folks measured his bones and commented on his still clearly visible red hair and the reburial took place with eight of his descendants present. He rode over all of Maryland and probably a lot of Virginia (a better source of records, possibly, since West Virginia was not a state until the Civil War) and his awards and purchases are documented all over the place. That he was Scottish is a fact (fighting under Leslie, he may also have been Presbyterian) so if no birth records are available from Fifeshire perhaps elsewhere in Scotland. And I assume he did have parents; if not Alexander or James then some other couple in Scotland (there is also a Beatrix Fyfe in the St. Andrews parish register as well as the name Andrew (spelled Andro), a country of only half a million in those days.
