Here's what I know: Frederick Bell, born in Oglethorpe county Georgia, around 1820; died in Charleston, SC, a Confederate soldier, in 1864. First wife Lucinda Pace, m. 1848, had several children, cause of death unknown; second wife, Lucy Johnson, m. 1862. Frederick and Lucy had one son, Nicholas, my G-grandfather, married to Ollie Smith. They lived their lives in Oglethorpe and Elbert counties in Georgia as farmers, probably sharecroppers.
Family legend has it that we descend from Scotch-Irish that migrated from Virginia, through North Carolina, and into Eastern Georgia, where I live today. I believe Frederick Bell's father was James Bell, but I cannot verify this. I have no knowledge of who Fredrick's mother was. Does anyone have any information about this family of Bells?
