The following is a re-write of paragraph 5 in the pervious post with corrections and additional information.
There was another Bentzel discovered in the records. This was the family Bentzel, Sternau - Hohenau. This Bentzel line originated in northern Sweden. Col. Rich Christian de Bentzel arrived in northern Germany on July 4, 1630 with King Adolph Augustus of Sweden and the Swedish forces during the Thirty-Years War. After King Augustus was killed in the Battle of Lutzon, Col. de Bentzel had second thoughts about continuing with the life of a soldier. He chose instead to marry into a wealthy, aritocratic family in Mainz. Within a couple of generations, this Bentzel line would have additional influence in the area. The Sternau (Star) or Sternauet in the name refers to a battlefield award presented to Col. de Bentzel for extreme bravery by the Prince of Sweden. With the award came the status of a Knight. The Hohenau portion of the name refers to an area of land opposite Mainz across the Rhine River and on the banks of the Rhein which this family was in possession of. Today, it is called Gut Hohenau. By 1746, this family achieved the status of Freiherr (or Baron) and by 1790, this family line were Counts Bentzel, Sternau-Hohenau. This family originated in Bentzibly Gaard, Luelea Parrish, Luela Lappmark, Sweden which is located in the Lule River Valley in northern Sweden.
This Bentzel (Sternau-Hohenau) family would appear in the Wuettemberg records when Count Bentzel, Sternau-Hohenau married Maria Irmgard of Sturmfeder in 1939. Maria then took the name Grafin (Countess) Benzel-Sturmfeder-Horneck. Her son was Hannfried, Graf von Bentzel-Sturmfeder-Horneck.
