See messages 14, 20 & 21 in this Forum. Also see this message from Fernanda Bergerson sent to me 9/1/00:

"Hello Dan,

Hope you remember about a message you posted responding to one I posted, about three months ago. Well, sorry about the delay on the answer, but I actually had forgotten all about the Gen Forum, only today I went back and checked. It was a very pleasant surprise to se your message.
My ancestry is Jewish as well, and I really think my grandfather could be related to Schalim and Isaac. As were your ancestors, he was from Tomaszow-Lubelski, in Ukraine-Poland. However, he only imigrated from Poland during the second war, and instead of the US, he chose Brazil, because his wife, my grandmother, Szendela Katz had a sister there. According to my mother, when he moved to Brazil during the late 40's he was way on his forties. He was married once before my grandmother, but his wife and infant child died during the war. From his first wife he had two sons, Moishe and Jankel, my grandmother had her own child from her first marriage called Motel, her first husband was called Leon if I am not mistaken.
It's hard for me to get more information on my grandfather, for both him and my grandmother passed away years ago, and I haven't seen my uncles who are all on their late sixties in a while. My mother is my only reliable source but she owns a coffee farm in the country side of Brazil, so communication is rather scarce.
However, next time I talk to her, I will try to see if she knows any other names that could help, she mentioned some names when I asked her several years ago, but I really cant remember. Oh, another thing I remembered, I once saw a picture of him and some friends or family, not sure, some young guys in the 1920's, in what is Israel now, maybe that can help somehow.

Hope to get an answer from you....

Thank you,

Fernanda Bergerson

P.S. Sorry for my English...."

I responded(message 21). I haven't heard more.

Dan
