My grandmother's Maiden name was Bysouth. About ten years ago I traced her ancestors back to the 1540's to a village called Reed in Herfordshire, England using Parish Records, IGI and copies of old Wills. The oldest records have the surname recorded as Besouth. Unfortunately when I moved I lost all my records. I have only got access to the internet this week so I am busy tracing all lines of my Family Tree. When I have got back to the 1540's again I will send you details of my Besouth/South/Bysouth research. My previous research showed some By/Besouth ancestors recorded as South. Regards Edward Woods.
