We are looking for information pertaining to Elijah E. Bishop, his wife Sarah A. Violet, and their children, grandchildren, and other descendents. We are trying to document the descendents of John Bishop II (1739-1828) and any information that you can provide about his grandson Elijah E. Bishop will certainly help.
Elijah E. Bishop was born 24 Apr. 1840 in Loudoun Co. VA, the son of Aquilla Bishop and Jemima Violett. Aquilla Bishop was the son of John Bishop II and his second wife Catherine Iden. Elijah E. Bishop died 4 Nov. 1924 in Sebastian Co. AR. He is buried in Mount Olive Cemetery Sebastian Co. AR.
Elijah E. Bishop enlisted as a Private in Co. F of 8th VA Infantry 19 Jun. 1861; wounded at Chambersburg; a POW on 16 Mar. 1862 at Harper’s Ferry; exchanged on 5 Aug. 1862; enlisted in Co. H of the 6th VA Cavalry on 13 Sep. 1862 at Salem Fauquier Co. VA; ordered to report back to the 8th VA Infantry on 30 Jan. 1863; charged with Pickett’s command at Gettysburg; one of only 20 survivors in “the Bloody 8th;” promoted to Corporal 16 Jul. 1864; paroled at Winchester VA 25 Apr. 1865.
Elijah E. Bishop married Sarah A. Violet circa 1866 in VA. Does anyone know the exact marriage date and location?
Sarah A. Violet was born 1 Jan. 1841 in VA. She died 7 Apr. 1924. Does anyone know who her parents were?
Elijah and Sarah (Violet) Bishop had at least four children: Kate, Luttie, Sarah, and Lurina.
1. Kate L. Bishop was born Oct. 1867 in Fauquier Co. VA. She married H. N. Adams in Sebastian Co. AR on 28 Dec. 1888. When and where did she die? Where is she buried? In 1900, she reports having had six children with five children still living.

c. Beulah Adams, born May 1895 in AR.
d. Audrey Adams, born 1897 in AR.
e. Artie Adams, born Mar. 1900 in AR.
2. Luttie V. Bishop was born Nov. 1871 in Fauquier Co. VA. She married Henry P. Blackman 6 Dec. 1893 in Sebastian Co. AR. They have no children in 1900. Does anyone have any additional information on this family.
3. Sarah Gertrude Bishop was born circa 1875 in VA. She married C. C. Turnispeed 26 Oct. 1890 in Sebastian Co. AR. We need additional information on this family.
4. Lurina Bishop was born circa 1877 in VA. She married John B. Turnispeed on 4 Oct. 1896 in Sebastian Co. AR. We need additional information on this family.
