We would greatly appreciate any information that you can provide about William E. Bishop, his wife Rosanna Jones, and their ancestors and descendents.
William E. Bishop was born circa 1818 in Clark Co. OH, the son of Amos and Sarah (Palmer) Bishop. He died 10 Apr. 1864 in Scottsboro AL while serving as a Private in Co. I of the 26th Illinois Infantry Regiment.
William E. Bishop married Rosanna Jones 11 Jun. 1844 in Champaign Co. IL. Rosanna Jones was born circa 1822 in KY. The couple had four children: Amos, Moses, William, and Lucy.
1. Amos Bishop was born Sep. 1846 in Champaign Co. IL. He served as a Private in Co. I of the 26th Illinois Infantry Regiment. He married Mary Alice Wells 31 Jan. 1873 in Champaign Co. IL. She was born Oct 1853 in IN. Her father was born in LA and her mother was born in OH. Amos and Mary (Wells) Bishop did not have any children. Amos Bishop died 1912 in Tippecoanoe Co. IN at the Indiana State Soldiers’ Home. His wife died 17 Feb. 1927. They are both buried in the Indiana State Soldiers’ Home Cemetery.
2. Moses Jones Bishop was born Jul. 1849 in Champaign Co. IL. He died 16 Jan. 1925 in Hoopeston Vermilion Co. IL. Moses J. Bishop married Sarah (Rosa) A. Preston 31 Mar. 1880 in Champaign Co. IL. She was born Feb. 1858 in IL. Her parents were born in KY. She died between 1910 and 1920, probably in Vermilion Co. IL. The couple had five children: Myrtle, Alta, Lucy, Laura, and William.
a. Myrtle J. (or Z?) Bishop was born Dec. 1880 in Champaign Co. IL. She married John C. Pridemore 9 Mar. 1899 in Champaign Co. IL. They had one child - Clifford.
i. Clifford W. Pridemore was born 13 May 1908 in Champaign Co. IL. He died 4 May 1983 in Champaign Co. IL.
b. Alta M. Bishop was born Sep. 1882 in IL. She married Charles T. Davis 15 Aug. 1898 in Champaign Co. IL. They were later divorced. Does anyone know the date and location of their divorce? The couple had one child - a daughter named Fern.
i. Fern (or Ferne) Davis was born Apr. 1900 in Champaign Co. IL.
c. Lucy E. Bishop was born in Oct. 1884 in IL. Does anyone have any information pertaining to Lucy?
d. Laura L. Bishop was born Oct. 1886 in IL. Does anyone have any information pertaining to Laura?
e. William J. Bishop was born Jul. 1889 in IL. Does anyone have any information pertaining to William J. Bishop?
3. William A. Bishop was born Feb. 1860 in Champaign Co. IL. He may have died young as he cannot be found in subsequent U.S. Federal Censuses. Does anyone have any information pertaining to William A. Bishop?
4. Lucy Jane Bishop was born 5 Aug. 1862 in Champaign Co. IL. She died 13 Mar. 1918 in Beecher City, Effingham Co. IL. She married Thomas Benjamin Thompson (1862-1930) on 11 Sep. 1881 in Champaign Co. IL. They had at lest two children, but only one is living in 1900 but we do not know which one.
i. Helen Etta Thompson was born circa 1862 in Champaign Co. IL. Does anyone have any information pertaining to Helen?
ii. Rosa Thompson was born circa 1884 in Champaign Co. IL. Does anyone have any information pertaining to Rosa?
