Looking for the ancestry of Zilpha Talitha Johnson, b. 1843 in Union County (Washington township),Ohio, d. 1910 near Mechanicsburg in Champaign Co., OH, her sister Elsie G. Johnson b.1844 and died in 1898 in Logan Co., OH, their brother Ira Johnson (1849?-1870), and their sisters Celecta and Annetta Johnson. Zilpha married David Sergeant in 1863 and Elsie married John Fletcher Bishop in 1867. They were children of John Johnson (b. 1816 in Ohio), and Julia Colver? or Collins, b.1812 in CT, d.1857 in Champaign County). I recently discovered that John was NOT the son John of Jesse Johnson and Hannah Truitt of Champaign County and despite his living nearby him in Wayne Twp., in 1850 may well have been completely unrelated. Does anyone know Zilpha and Elsie's father John Johnson's ancestry, what line of Johnsons he came from (KY? PA?) and what origin any of these children's families heard about their Johnson ancestors, whether Scot-Irish, English, or Dutch?
