The daughter of Joseph Bishop who married Abraham Mayfield was named Dorcas. This can be verified by a deed record when Abraham and Dorcas Mayfield sell land. A year or so later (I don't have my files right here with me) there is another deed from Abraham and Margaret Mayfield. Margaret is a 2nd wife and not the mother of the children. Because she was Abraham's widow, many people have posted that she was his Bishop wife but that is not true, as is proven in deed records. It is apparent in Joseph Bishop's will that his daughter is dead. He named every other one of his children except this daughter, and he makes the bequest to his "beloved son in law Abraham Mayfield" and granddaughter Thany Mayfield, who was named after her grandmother, Joseph Bishop's dead wife.
