I have obtained a copy of the death certificate of Mrs. ROSA CATRON, nee ROSA BISHOP, who was born March 1887 to ANDREW HABORN "HABE" BISHOP and ARMINDA HALE of Scott County, Virginia, from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Depart ment of Health. Certificate #4000720. It states the following: Mrs. Rose Catron: female, whie, married, husband unknown, age 40, occupation - housekeeping; birthplace, Scott Co., VA. Father -- HABERN BISHOP, born Scott Co., VA. Mother -- ARMANDA HALE, born Scott Co., VA. Informant -- ARTHUR CATRON of Glenita (sic Scott County), Virginia. Date of death: Nov. 29, 1928 at 10:15 A.M. Place of death: Big Stone Gap, Richmond District, Wise County, Virginia Cause of death: Strychnine poisoning, was forced to drink it by male friend who committed suicide at the same t ime. Signed, W. A. Baker, MD of Big Stone Gap, VA. Undertaker: W. W. Taylor & Sons, Big Stone Gap. Rosa Bishop Catron was having an affair with JOHN WINTON THOMPSON, a married man with seven children. John Winton Thompson held Rosa at gunpoint and made her drink the strychnine mixed with Abbotts Bitters, then consumed the poison himself. Does anyone have anymore information on these two people and why John Winton Thompson did these acts. Also note that ROSA BISHOP had been married to ANDY DYKES, DRURY MELVIN CATRON, and J. P. STURGILL. She had a son named RANSOM CATRON/KETRON by LUTHER LIGHT. She may have had other marriages and other relationships. Does anyone know of any others? What did Rosa have on J. W. or what did she know that drove J. W. over the brink so he committed a murder/suicide? Notify Administrator about this message?
