We are looking for information about Delilah C. Bishop of Jefferson Co. Indiana, her husband George W. Brown, and their ancestors and descendents.

Delilah C. Bishop was born in VA, circa 1800-1804, the daughter of Thomas Bishop and his first wife Delilah Tumelson. Thomas Bishop was born in Fauquier Co. VA, the son of John Bishop II and Mary Ann Claypool.

After the death of Delilah C. Bishop’s mother, Delilah Tumelson Bishop, her father, Thomas Bishop, married (2nd) Sarah Todd on 22 Oct. 1810 in Fauquier Co. VA. After the death of Sarah Todd Bishop’s father, Joseph Todd, circa 1817, the family of Thomas and Sarah Bishop emigrated to Shelby Co. KY with members of the Todd family.

Delilah C. Bishop’s father, Thomas Bishop, is listed as a head of household in the 1820 census of Shelby Co. KY. Sometime prior to 1827, the family moved from Shelby Co. KY to Jefferson Co. Indiana and Delilah’s father Thomas Bishop can be found there as a head of household in the 1830 and 1840 censuses.

Delilah C. Bishop married George W. Brown on 29 Sep. 1831 in Jefferson Co. Indiana. They had at least three children: William R. Brown, Adolphus A. Brown and Sarah M. Brown.

Delilah Bishop’s half brother, Willis J. Bishop, was born circa 1812 in Fauquier Co. VA. He married Mary Roach. Does anyone know the exact date and location?

Delilah’s half brother, James M. Bishop (or James W. Bishop), married Mary Mason on On 24 Jul. 1834 in Jefferson Co. IN.

Delilah’s half brother, Thomas Wesley Bishop, married Caroline Harback on 12 Nov. 1840 in Jefferson Co. Indiana.

Delilah’s father and stepmother, Thomas and Sarah Todd Bishop moved from Jefferson Co. Indiana to nearby Scott Co. Indiana in 1846 and her parents can be found there in the 1850 and 1860 censuses. Living with the family in those censuses is Thomas’ grandson Adolphus A. Brown, son of Delilah and George Brown. In 1860, Sarah Brown, Thomas’ granddaughter, is also living with her grandfather. This may indicate that George and Delilah Brown died young. When did George and Delilah Brown die and where are they buried?
