Ben: That's good news that you made the connection of Davis to Hudnut. Elijah Blackwell was born in 1775 and died in 1855. In about 1800 he married Eliza Lefferty, daughter of Bryant Lefferty of Plukemin, NJ. Mrs. Lefferty was widowed, and had remarried John Harrison of Princeton. Elijah purchased a 300 acre farm from Rev. Snowden's heirs also about that time. This land was just east of Princeton, and about 1835, Elijah built a boarding house right in the center of Princeton in which University students boarded. Two of his sons graduated from the University, and became doctors. Elijah and Eliza had 7 children in all. Eliza died in 1840. I know I have seen the marriage record of Elijah and Lydia Ann, I I believe it refers to her as Mrs. Hudnut, as you suggested it might. I don't have that in its proper place, so I'll have to keep looking. In Elijah's will, he left his properties in Princeton to Lydia. Apparently she sold these. It was Elijah's brother John's widow Mary who wrote in a letter (not a diary) about stopping to see Lydia and Mary in New Brunswick on the way back from New York. I'll have to read several letters to find the passage. Lastly, you may be interested to know that Elijah was the son of Thomas Blackwell and Bathsheba Davis! She was the daughter of Henry nad Margaret Davis, and they lived in South Brunswick Township, Middlesex Co. with land fronting on the Millstone River, now Carnegie Lake by Princeton. Henry left other land in Perth Amboy. The Blackwell's Mills folk were another part of my family. William Blackwell bought the Mill in 1804, and his son John's widow sold the Mill circa 1870. William Blackwell married Catherine, daughter of Frederick Cruser who lived at Rockingham, and the Mill family sons married a Beardslee, a McKissac, and a Wilson. David
