Richard Booker

I have recently found the Extracts from the Notarial Records of Amsterdam, Holland, 1644--1653, which gives a great deal of information about the Bookers and Glovers. Richard Booker was baptized in the English Church at Amsterdam, 16 March 1642; it therefore is highly unlikely that he was born in England, as has been thought. His parents were Edward Booker and Elizabeth Glover; Edward showed a certificate of marriage 1 June 1641 signed by a minister at Rotterdam. Elizabeth was daughter of Robert Glover of Rotterdam; she was baptized 30 Oct 1619 at the English Church in Amsterdam. The Glovers were heavily into tobacco trade, as was Booker and made many trips back and forth between the colonies, England, and Holland. Richard Glover is referred to as Edward Booker's brother in law several times, and John Glover is named as Richard's brother.
