I have found an estate settlement record in Blount Co., AL, which listed a Richard Booker as one of the debtors to the deceased. He was listed as owing James Kelly $8.42 1/2 on the list of notes. The list was dated 23 March 1841. What I am wondering is if this Richard Booker was Richard Martin Booker [b Bet. 1805 - 1810], who was the father of Thomas Milton Booker [b 19 Jan 1848]. Richard Martin Booker and son, Thomas Milton Booker, were in Perry Co,AL in at census time in 1860, then in Dallas Co., for the 1870 census. Thomas M moved sometime between the 1870 census and 1874 to Jefferson Co., AL, where he married Lucy Jane Payne in Jones Valley. There was only one Booker listed on the 1840 census for Blount Co., AL. It was S. Booker in the Eastern Division. The persons listed were: males 1 05-10 1 30-40 females 1 00-05 1 10-15 1 15-20 1 20-30 1 30-40 In 1850 there was still only one Booker family listed in Blount Co. They were: Sheilds Booker 48 farmer $200 b VA Sarah Booker 40 b TN Elizabeth Booker 18 b AL William Booker 16 farmer b AL Samuel Booker 8 b AL Alfred Booker 5 b AL No Bookers were listed in Blount Co., AL on the 1830, 1860 & 1870 censuses indexes. One Booker is listed on the Jefferson Co. census for 1860. She is Virginia Booker 13, half-sister of Thomas M. She is listed with their sister, Mary, wife of John Cole[they had married in Jefferson Co., AL in 1857]. By 1870, Virginia is back with their father in Dallas Co., AL. The only Booker listed in Jefferson Co., AL in 1870 was a black male listed as J Booker 35. I would really like to know if Shields Booker is related to Richard Martin Booker. And, if the Richard in Blount Co., AL in 1841 is the same Richard. Notify Administrator about this message?
