Capt. Samuel to Calvert Co., MD, late 1600s
Posted by: Linda (Nolan Layman (ID *****8388) Date: September 02, 2010 at 15:41:52
  of 1166

The recent issue of "American Spirit" put out by the D.A.R., has an article about farmers markets. Included, is the following:

"Bourne is a living link between colonial farming days and the modern Old Town Farmers' Marktet. His family's history of farming in Calvert County, MD extends to the late 17th century, when his ancestor, English ship Captain Samuel Bourne, arrived to claim a 5,000 acre land grant on present-day Solomons Island. While subsequent generations moved around in the intervening years, the family remained in Calvert County. Bourne's Lamb's Quarter, a tobacco farm as recently as 1983, now produces organically raised beef, port, and poultry products, as well as fruits and vegetables."

I am not researching this family, and have no further information.
