I have a copy of the Genealogy of the
Brainerd Family in the United States by David
Fields, l857, in which there are only 3 Ansel
Brainerds listed. Only one is a possibility.
Ansel Brainerd, 7th child of Othniel Brainerd
was born about l766-7. His mother was the
2nd wife, Widow Jerusha (Shaler) Kilbourn,
relict of Samuel Kilbourn, of Westchester Ct.
They were married 6/26/l764. He was the 1st
of 3 children of this marriage. Othniel had
9 children in all. Their names are listed
in the book. Unfortunately they don't list
Ansels children, but he did have a sister
called Lucy. I'll quote from the book. Hope
it helps. "Ansel Brainerd maried Polly Warner,
of Winchester. He was in the war of the
Revolution; settled for a time in some part
of the state of NY, and afterwards in
Westfield, Medina County, Ohio, where he and
his wife were not long since living. They
had a large family, and both they and their
children are understood to be connected with
the Methodist church. Their eldest son, who
bears his father's name, has long been a
Methodist minister." This Brainerd family
was descended from Daniel Brainerd's son
James. Good Luck!
