Hello: I am new to the Brainard list and seek information on my g-grandfather: MILLER BRAINARD WASHBURN/WASHBOURNE.
According to his death certificate, Miller was born in New York on Nov 27, l835 and died in St. Louis, MO on Mar 8, l903 where he worked as a painter. His parents, listed as "unknown" had only Mass. as a birthplace
His second marriage, abt 1890, was to my g-grandmother, Anna Peters, b. l863. She is believed to have worked for the Henry Tibbe, (corn cobb pipe family) in Washington, MO. They had one son, Frank William Washburn, born Aug 1894. All the male children in our family since then carry Brainard as the middle name since it is a family name.
The first marriage is an unknown.
Does anyone out there have any information on the Brainard/Washburn connection? I am totally stumped.
