"Button Families of America" by R. Glen Nye says that Persis BUTTON married Ruel BRAINARD. I can find hide nor hair of the man and think maybe "Ruel" was a nickname. Persis was born 1801 and died 1855 so Ruel would have been born in the late 1700s. They lived in the Hartford, Connecticut area. I am trying to find out if they had children, and more about the mysterious Ruel. Thanks.
