Brainard-Princeton connection

I vaguely recall reading that the Brainard family has a connection with the creation of Princeton Univ. But I can't remember
where I've seen it. Can anyone help me? It was something about outrage when a Brainard was turned down by another university
so friends of his organized Princeton.
