I suspect the grandson was wrong. His grandfather Chester/George died before 1910 and Stuart (your informant) wasn't born until 1913. He could have presumed that his father's middle name was George (his inital being G) and perhaps his memory let him believe his grandfather's name was George. Perhaps in his grief, this detail seemed unimportant so he didn't verify this with anyone at the time.
This happened in my own family with my father remembering his Grandfather's middle name as something totally different than what it was, which stifled my search for years.
I have this family line too in Ohio. Its an interesting group.:)
