I was wondering if anyone can tell me where in the long line of Brainards and Brainerds the name changed spelling and which one was the original. Also I was wondering if anyone can tell me why the name was changed? Was it a family dispute? A census recorder who couldn't spell? Or some other reason? I've posted my Brainard ancestry below in case that will help someone pinpoint it for me. Thanks.
