Harold Brainerd, 78
PRATTSVILLE - Harold C. Brainerd, 78, of Prattsville [NY], died Dec. 30, 1988 at his residence. He was born Oct. 10, 1910 in Conesville [NY], the son of Leonard and Marietta (Scoville) Brainerd.
He was a member of the Prattsville United Methodist Church and a Trustee. A member of Prattsville Hose Co., since April 30, 1944 and served as a Fire Commissioner and past-Fire Chief and a member of Greene County Firemans Assoc. He was an Honorary member of the Prattsville Rescue Squad and past Prattsville Town Constable.
Mr. Brainerd is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Nickerson; two children Mrs. Philip (Lorraine) Robinson of Conesville and Edwin Harold Brainerd of Prattsville, and his sister Mrs. Francis (Ethel) Vermilya of Oneonta [NY] and four brothers; Archie Brainerd of Margaretville [NY], Ivan Brainerd of Altamont [NY]; Ralph Brainerd of New Smryma [Smyrna] Beach, Fla., and Willie Brainerd of Gilboa [NY]; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2 at the Prattsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Rev. Ellen Oliveto officiating. Interment was at Fairlawn Cemetery, Prattsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by the Prattsville United Methodist Church or the Prattsville Rescue Squad or the Prattsville Hose Co. Funeral arrangements were by Decker Funeral Home, Inc., Windham [NY].
