Hope this might be a lead. Emil Brendel, civil war surgeon whose obit is online, had a brother Frederick in Peoria, who may have had a son Frederick. Emil's daughter Gertrude lived in Peoria for a while. He also had a son Frederick who lived in Mo. for a while, but may have ended up in Chicago. Emil married into my family line and I'm not really related but thought this might be of interest to you.
