My Grandfather, Joseph Brendel was a younger Brother to your Grandfather William. Their Father was William Jacob Brendel and his wife was Esther McClusky. You can find the family in the 1900 Federal Census for Manhattan. The family lived on West 38th street. Look up a Soundex Index and you'll find the exact Roll, ED ect. I could look it up but don't have it right now. I have a copy with me of the Census record. Your Grandfather William was born in New York City in Feb.1886. His father William was born in New York City in Feb 1856, Esther, William's wife was born June 1864. By 1900 they had been married 19 years.

I saw the Census record for 1920 Manhattan of your father's family. They were still living in the West Side of Manhattan. This is also easy to look up. I have a copy of the marriage certificate for William Jacob Brendel and Elizabeth Esther McClusky.William's parent's were Jacob and Margeret Heanes. Both came from Germany but I've drawn a blank finding either of them in New York. Esther McClusky parent's were Edward McClusky who in 1870 Census records for Manhattan said he was from Ireland. Just the thing this close to St. Paddy's day! His wife, Esther Herritt was English. Edward was an Oysterman.

I have some more information but would want to post it on a Forum. I am interested in learning more about the Brendels.
