Like a family fight? I was reading a 1918 verison of a 1780 event the turned into a fight between decendants and relations of Frederick Brendel. Does any of this ring a bell for someone? The short version according to this letter. It seems Frederick Brendel, the brother of our great, great, great grandfather (whose first name I do not know), along in the 1780's gave a plot of ground to a church in Baltimore which if not used was not be be sold but was to revert to his heirs. He married Maria Catherine (Klop) and died ("is probably" crossed out) childless, his estate going to his wife. She left her estate to her brother and his heirs and the heirs of Catherine and Henry Brendel contended for the plot when the church tried to sell it." When the lead attorney died, "the case died while the rest were squabbling as to who the attorney should be, the statue of limitations (99 years) cut off all chances of them winning, the title passed to the church and they sold the tract to the B & O RR." Catherine Brendel b 1802 married John Peter Hammer. Catherine's father is Peter Brendel who married Elizabeth Graves. Peters Uncle was Fredric Brendel. I don't know Peter's father. Interesting story. The writer though a trip to the courthouse would reveal all the relationships. Chris Collman Notify Administrator about this message?
