A small book published by the La Plata Home Press in 1929, entitled "The Story of My Life" by Rev. James William Worthington Waugh, indicates the following uncomfirmed story:

"My [wife's] father, Josiah Brown, adopted Jim Bridger and reared him in Pocahontas County, Virginia, with my grandmother Waugh. He visited my grandmother in Upshur Co., Virginia, just before the Civil War, and I recall him very well and some of his characteristics that it will not do to tell, yet were not immoral."

I have the entire booklet by Rev. Waugh, if more information is desired on this family, however there is nothing more regarding Jim Bridger contained in it.
