Brinkley, Charles W.
Charles W. Brinkley of Elgin Funeral services for Charles W. Brinkley, 69, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Dennis H. Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday, at the church. Born Dec. 5, 1938, in Elgin, the son of Charles M. and Dorothy Boyle Brinkley, he passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Sherman Hospital. He had been a resident of Elgin for all of his life and was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1956. He had been employed by Simpson Electric in Elgin for over 35 years before retiring. He was a veteran having served in the Navy. He was a charter member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, Elgin. Surviving are his wife, Norma Smith Brinkley, whom he married on Aug. 26, 1961; three children, Toni (Michael) Barkey of Genoa, Christopher (Mary) Brinkley of Carpentersville and Dr. Jason Brinkley of Olney, Ill.; five grandchildren, Brandon Zange, Alexandra Barkey, Cassandra Barkey, and Jacob and Tyler Brinkley; one great-grandchild, Jada Zange; one brother, S. Lynn (B.J.) Brinkley of Loudon, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. For information, 847-741-8800.
