I am surprised there is not Taney Forum! I am sure I have other information on him, but right now I have a 1975 booklet "Driving Tours of Maryland" which states:
"Prince Frederick - ....An historic marker in front of the Calvert County Courtshouse states that Supreme Court Justice Roger Brooke Taney, (1777-1864) was born here. "Taney Place stands grandly with a superb view of the Patuxent River 14 miles from the courthouse. Six generations of Taneys lived in this 300 year-old house before it was sold out of the Taney family in the early 19th century. (not open)"
The local library or historical society might have some information which would help you. I have not been there to do research, so I don't know what is available.
