This message is about 6 years late so I hope you are still registered for this forum. I am passionately interested in the history of Stanford's Great Vina Ranch, particularly the period 1885 to 1894. That is the period your great grand father Charles was actively recruiting out of work French men to go to Stanford's vineyard in Vina. One of those men was the person who built my house back around 1892. I bought it in 1999, not knowing its history even though I happen to be from California. So far I have only found one reference to your family using French language internet searches. It is in a file called perso.orange.fr/milleansabouhet/html/f-emigresusa01.htm. It is about the town of Bouhet where your family lived prior to emigrating. Maybe you can find someone to translate it for you. I have a copy of Peninou's book plus I have intensively researched the Vina Ranch history on internet. Do you have any articles, photos, images from the 1880 and 1890 period? Hope to hear from you.
