The 1850 Botetourt Co. Va census lists Jas. W. Brumfield, age 50, Farmer, born Va. His wife Mary A. [Mary Ann Siler, Daughter of John, m:1837] age 30, born Va. and six children: Joseph, age 18; Mahala J., female age 12; Willaim S., age 9; George P., age 7; Pankey, female, age 5; and Tilghman, age 2 [later spelled Tilman]. In 1855 James W. Brumfield purchased land in Montgomery Co. Two of the children, William Sampson Brumfield [b: about 1841 in Va or Tn] and George P. were in the 54th Va.Infantry from Montgomery Co. (William Sampson, in my line, married Nancy C. Woolwine b:1843 and, 2nd wife, Matilda Ellen or Ellen E. Cox. b:1854)
Any information related to members of this family, especially the ancestors of James W. Brumfield or Mary Ann Siler, would be appreciated.
