I'm not related to the Brumfields, but I spent a few days reading and copying newspaper articles from the Clinton Public (1860s) of DeWitt County, Illinois, and I thought someone at this forum might enjoy this.
Feb. 18, 1864
QUICK WORK – Andrew Broomfield Esq., of Waynesville, met a widow lady a week ago last Sunday, was engaged to her Monday, procured a license and was married to her by the Rev. Andrew J. Vincent Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock, and at 11 the same night became an honored and joyous stepfather.

BRUMFIELD, ANDREW J H -- WRIGHT, MARTHA E MRS -- DE WITT -- 02/09/1864
(Feb. 9 was a Tuesday, so I’m pretty sure this is the couple, even though the spelling is different.)
