Greetings to Distant Cousins! My line descends: JOHN WATSON BRUMFIELD/ELIZABETH CHARELS BRUMFIELD/LUCY JOHN BRUMFIELD/MARGARET "PEGGY" KELLY ISAAC BRUMFIELD, b.9 March 1801/ELIZABETH "BETSY" HOLMES LUCY JANE BRUMFIELD, b. 1830/ WILLIAM GREENBERRY MAY WILLIAM WALTER MAY/LOUISA ROSETTA HART LINNIE ROGENIA MAY,b.23 Dec 1896, Bogue Chitto, MS/VERNON SEBASTIAN MYERS (My Grandparents were born and raised in MS, then married in Mobile, AL and moved to Washington, D.C. where my Grandpoppy worked for the Internal Revenue Service; he graduated from Bogue Chitto High School; his mother was Leona Rebecca Griffing) I found the Holmes girls father was a blacksmith in LA. I know from a family cassette tape that this trade was passed on to William Walter May. My VA/NC/SC/LA/MS lines on my grandmother's MAY side are: BRUMFIELD/BURTON/GILL/KELLY/HART/HICKS/HOLMES/MAY/MYERS/ STOVALL My Long Island/MS MYERS LINES ARE: CALLENDER/GRIFFING/HORTON/SWAYZE/KING/WIGGINS/GUYNES/COLEMAN/BRYAN/JONES/TERRY Fortunately, my Grandmother wrote down the name of her Grandmother, Lucy Jane BRUMFIELD in her Bible. Thanks to so much info on the internet I was able to trace her to this family. There is a terrific BRUMFIELD web site done by Glen BRUMFIELD. I contacted his father who has an extensive file of BRUMFIELD'S, and found that my info was correct. I would be glad to exchange info! It was interesting to find that several of the BRUMFIELD men married several HOLMES sisters. Please email me at: Christies Genes@aol.com Hope to hear from you!
