Hi,

I am front Indiana. James and Elizabeth (Rice) Brumfield
were the parents of Mahala Brumfield who married Samuel
Haney and they parented two children: Mary Ann born 1840,
my gt. grandmother and her brother James William born I
think about 1842. Mahala died, probably in child birth and
Samuel was left with two small children. His father in law James was deceased be 1843 I believe and evidently
Elizabeth (Rice)Brumfield came to care for her two grandchildren in Wabash County, Illinois. Samuel married his mother in law and although no marriage record found
(a tornato destroyed a lot of records in Wabash Co.,Ill.,)-
their marriage is proved by signing of deeds and also by
his will.
