Dorla, I 'm not sure if I'm on the right track, but here goes. I am looking for the family of a David Lay b. abt 1813 in Tenn., married ____Carson b. abt 1813, d. abt 1848 (not listed on 1850 census in TN). Their children were Mary Jane Lay (my gggrandmother - m. Thomas Martin Birch(burch) and lived in TN/ARK; Susan, William, John, Mary A., and Jamima. I grew up in TX, so some of the family ended up there, but Thomas Martin and Mary Jane Lay ended up in Arkansas. Let me know! Mary Jane Lay shows as 14 in the 1850 TN census.
