Lewis Burdette Union Soldier?

I am looking for information regarding my G-G-G-Grandfather, Lewis Burdette/Burdett/Burnitt (1786-1864). Recently I came across info of a Union soldier, Lewis Burditt, joining the Company E 8th Indiana Calvary during the Civil War. I realize that he would have been about 75 years old at the time, one of the drawbacks of this theory. He had a son named James Lewis Burdette/Burdett/Burditt (1830-1914) and in Company E there was a James L. Burdett/Burditt.

Lewis is buried in Cloverport, Breckinridge County, KY. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
