John Jacob Busby and wife Mary Rawl/Rawls are my direct ancestors. I believe that most records I have searched indicate that he is the son of Nathan Busby born 1754-1755 (probably in NC), d bef March 1822 probably in Newberry Co., SC. Nathan married Mary A. (last name unknown) who d after 1820. The 1790 census of Orangeburg District, SC shows Nathan with 1 son and 7 females (wife and 6 daughters ?) in his household. Nathan Busby appears several times in the Minutes of the County Court of Newberry County. Names which appear with him are later associated with this branch of the Busby family. I have made several trips to South Carolina researching my maternal grandmother's ancestors. She was Buelah Inez Busby, born in Columbia, Sotu Carolina.
