John Stewart Cann was born Nov 18, 1843 and died June 22, 1900. He served in Co I, 14th SC Inf, CSA, was wounded at least once(at Fraziers Farm) and possibly again at Gettysburg. He and Martha Bowen Cann are buried at Midway Baptist Church, near Lowndsville, SC. She was born Oct 11, 1843 and died Jan 15 1935. I have a copy of her obituary from the Greenville News. I also have a photo of her and Stewart's gravestone, and Stewart's picture appears in the book "History of Lowndseville" along with survivors of his Infantry Company at an 1896 reunion. I have copies of his service record from the NARA. Their children were:
William Cann b 1860, died in infancy
William John Cann, b 1864, m. Anna Lee Suber
Palephus Cann, b 1868, m. Bert Patterson
Thomas Brown Cann, b 1866, died 1890 of TB
Hattie Cann, b 1874 m. Charlie Hall
Jesse Hampton Cann, b 1876 m. Asa Below
Corrie Cann, b 1879, m. Will Ferguson
Dora Cann, b 1880 m Ida Knox
Minnie Cann, b 1870 m George T. McMahan
Norman W. Cann, b 1872 m. Nora Seawright
Pratt Cann, b 1881 m Sallie Below

I have more details and scanned copies of documentation if you want to supply a e-mail address.
