I am trying to assist my mother in law in tracing her Cann ancestors. Her grandmother was Isabella Cann (married name Ellery)(b Apr 1880 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia) who died prior to 1913 in Salem, Massachusetts, USA. Her father was just 3 years old when she died. She has little or no personal knowledge of Isabella or her family. What I have been able to trace is, that from her marriage record in MA, Isabella was the daughter of Angus Cann and his wife Eliza Ann both of Yarmouth. Angus lists on his marriage record that he is the son of Lyman Cann and wife Sarah Bain. Lyman's death record states that is the son of John Cann and Thankful Corning. I believe that John Cann is the son of John Cann and Elizabeth Ellenwood/Ellinwood? Any information would be gratefully received.
