Hello Denise, I have read your postings, along with those from Sally, and wonder if my family fits in somewhere. My Cannell ancestors lived in Onchan: Thomas Cannell (36), his wife Jane Cortlett (42), and children Elizabeth (12), Esther (10), daughter Christian (9), and Margaret (7) -- my 2nd g-grandmother. (Ages as listed in the 1851 Census of Onchan). Jane Cortlett Cannell's mother was Elizabeth Quayle and her father Robert Cortlett from Douglas, Isle of Man. With the Quayle and Cannell names from the Isle of Man, I thought we might connect somehow. There is also another Thomas Cannell, son of Philip Cannell and Jane Cowl. This Thomas is the same age as my Thomas, and his wife was also named Jane. They lived at Cronk y Berry Farm in 1851 next to his father Philip, who lived at Ballaskelly. Three residences away lived my Thomas and his family in Cronk ne Mona. He was employed as a tailor. Any information on a connection would be welcome! I have posted this reply to Sally as well. Regards, Amy Notify Administrator about this message?
