I am a Cartwright descendent through Matthew Cartwright, St Marys Co, MD and down to a grandson Matthew (and Jane (Lee) Tippett Cartwright's son Thomas who died in Blount CO, TN around 1813/1814. His descendants migrated to Tippah County, MS and that is where I have done most of my work.
I just wanted to post here that I found this story to be amusing and can believe that Mr. Lincoln said it. I think both Abraham Lincoln and Peter Cartwright were very colorful and interesting men. Thanks for the posting.
