I am descended fron Joseph Phillip Caruthers who was Augustus Caruthers brother. It sounds like you may have more information on Sam than I do since I did not know he was born in 1798. I do have quit a bit of information on Augustus. Mary Gough was his second wife I believe. Contact me and I will let you know what I have. Joseph Phillip Caruthers was my grgrgrandfather. His son William Samuel was my grgrandfather. William Samuel married Margaret Jane Webb in Sumter County Florida. The family settled there in or about 1847 coming from Burke Co. GA.
