We may have a shared family. I have a MARTHA S. CAWTHAN (b. Aug. 7, 1846 in Al) married ELIAS DUBOSE SLAUGHTER abt. 1871 believed to be in Barbour Co. AL. From undocumented information given to me by another researcher I have her father as WILLIAM WILSON CAWTHAN (married 1831 in Henry Co. GA to CHARITY GERTRUDE SMITH). WILLIAM WILSON CAWTHAN was the son of JOSHIAH DABNEY CAWTHON , mother unknown. It sounds as if you are in another branch of the same line. Would like to compare notes as you seem to be farther along in this line. This is not one of my major lines but married into my SLAUGHTER line. Willing to share information.
