I purchased the subject photo of 11 individuals (8 males and 3 females) posed against two large quilts tacked to the edge of a wood-shingled roofline. It is identified on the front:

"John M. Bailey Family 1901"

It is identified on the back:

"Back row

J. C.
Laura
C. W.
Talmadge
Ross

Front row

John M. Bailey Family
1901"

I found the family listed in the 1900 Census data for Seminary Voting Precinct, Yokum Station, Lee Co., VA, the data summarized as follows (all were born in VA of VA-born parents):

John M. Bailey, age 53, head, b. Feb 1847, farmer
Susan Bailey, age 45, wife, b. Aug 1854
William M. Bailey, age 24, son, b. Jan 1876, railroading
Charles W. Bailey, age 15, son, b. Feb 1885, farm laborer
Laura R. Bailey, age 11, daughter, b. Jun 1889
Talmage T. D. Bailey, age 9, son, b. Aug 1890
Ross J. Bailey, age 7, son, b. Jan 1893
Joe Bailey, age 3, son, b. Jan 1898

The eldest son, John R. Bailey, b. about 1874, and the eldest daughter, Nettie M., b. about 1878, had already left home, but obviously assembled for this family photo.

The enumerator in 1900 reported that Susan Bailey had been married for 27 years and had given birth to 9 children, all of who were still living.
