I have been researching Jeremiah Bailey b. 1709 from Granville NC for about 10 years. I could not find where Jeremiah Bailey came from before arriving in North Carolina. I did my DNA and got two matches connecting back to Jeremiah’s direct line. I got a DNA match about six months ago from a Richard Bailey born in NC. I knew from researching that this Richard Bailey was not from Jeremiah direct line. Cindy Mize found a document showing that in 1695 a William Bailey and his wife Grace was living in NC. I did some research on William and Grace and found that they came from Rhode Island. A Samuel Bailey b. abt 1665 in Newport RI had a son Jeremiah Bailey and the RI researchers did not known what happen to him. Samuel Bailey’s wife was Elizabeth Rogers. My Jeremiah Bailey’s granddaughter Elizabeth Bailey married a Peleg Rogers in Granville County NC. I research Peleg Rogers and found that his grandfather was Thomas Rogers of Rhode Island. Thomas Rogers's sister was Elizabeth Rogers who married Samuel Bailey of RI with a son Jeremiah. Last night we got a DNA match with this line of Bailey’s from RI.
Samuel Bailey’s b. 1665 father was Richard Baily b. abt 1620. Richard Baily left England in 1664 with his good friend the famous John Clarke (co-founder of RI) on the ship “The Sisters”. Richard Baily lived in Newport Rhode Island from 1664 to his death in 1678.

I want to thank Bill Bailey who runs the Bailey’s DNA project. Give Bill an e-mail and get your Bailey family DNA done. bbailey.lowedna
