Patrick H. Bailey Patrick H. Bailey was born the fourth of 12 children to his beloved “Mommie,” Addie Bell, and “Poppy,” Carl G. Bailey, on Christmas Day 1929 on Heizer Creek in Putnam Co. He departed this world on Monday, September 1, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by seven brothers, Sam, Paul, Mike, Ray, Lee, Johnny and Billy Con; and two sisters, Garnet and Anna Ruth. He was preceded in death by his parents and two of his brothers, Kenneth and Jackie. He had five children, Ralph Bailey of Farmington, Debbie Kay Bailey Boyce of Beckley, Randall L. Bailey of Poca, Andrea Dawn Clark of Nitro and Patrick H. Bailey Jr. of Altadena, Calif. He had 11 grandchildren, Brian, Tanya, Lanee, Eric, Neill, April (deceased), Ali, Jessica, Alice, Brittany and Justin; and five great-grandchildren, Gage, Baylee, Jenna, Olivia and Bonham and a sixth, a great-granddaughter, Ella, due September 6. His wife of over 50 years, Alice Jean Bailey, passed away less than a year ago. Pat was a self-employed concrete contractor who absolutely loved life. From working in his yard, to going to the Moose, to watching the NASCAR races, to his annual deer hunting trips, Pat was always surrounded by his friends and family. His work ethic was beyond compare. Even last week he was outside helping his brothers change the tire on his Gravely. Extremely proud of his “Heizer Tech” education, Pat provided extremely well for everyone in his world. Always ready with a joke, a hug, or assistance, his absence will be deeply felt by the multitude of lives that he touched. Whether in his role as a father, a brother or a friend, all knew that Pat had the biggest heart around. He was always there to lend advice and a helping hand to his kids, his family or even folks he didn't really know. A tribute to the life of Patrick H. Bailey will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House. Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.gatensharding.com. Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Poca, is serving the Bailey family. |
