BAILEY Douglas James Spark November 30, 1925 - April 26, 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas J. Bailey. We will miss his quick wit, wonderful laugh and especially his big heart. He was a mentor to each of us and taught us about the generosity of the human spirit. Survived by his loving and devoted partner of 25 years M.M. Anita Spencer; his three "Girls" of whom he was so proud, Deb (Drew) McVittie, Pam Bailey, Kim (Peter) King; and his grandchildren, Kathryn, Bryan and Jaimie McVittie, Krista and Sara Peel, Rob Prissick, Tim King. Doug is also survived by his former wife of many years Doris Beth Bailey, brother-in-law John Smith, nieces Diane Zuendt (William), Rosalyn Smith, Marjorie Smith, nephews, Norman Smith, Murray Smith. He was predeceased by his parents James Henry Garrett and Mirriam Spark Bailey, his sisters Lillian Cuell, Dorothy Smith, Marjorie Edwards (Robert). Doug served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II. He was a respected member of the Graphic Arts Industry, as a partner in Zenith Graphics and at Cleland Kent with his good friend Preston Wylie. According to Doug's wishes there will be not be a service. Because the care that Doug received at St. Paul's Hospital was truly exceptional, we gratefully decline flowers in favour of donations to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation, 178 - 1081 Burrard St., Vancouver, V6Z 1Y6 (British Columbia, Canada) |
