I am very interested in this book. My GGGrandfather is believed to be John Christopher Bettis. That is what the book, "The Bettes, England to America" says. In chapter 22 "John Chrisatopher Bettis, Virginia to Germany to America" of this book it states that John Christopher Bettis came to Texas and married the widow, Josephine Menke Plemper Baker. However in the 1860 Texas census it shows Henry Bettis, a baker by trade married Josiphine Menke.and listed his children as Frederick "Fritz" (Plemper),Henry (Baker), Joseph "Joe",and Bettie. The youngest child, James Monroe was born later that year, so he was not shown on the census. I have been unable to trace down the Father of John Christopher or Henry Bettis or find any other information on him. If you or anyone else can help me find the America to Germany to America connection it would be appreciated.
