My information about Ransom's siblings is compiled from a variety of descendants, and seems to be pretty reliable, although not all of the birth dates are verified. Children of Elijah Bettis and Amey Overton Bettis: Jean, b. 1769? m. George Jackson Sally, b. 1771? m. William(?) Alston Eleanor, b. 1772? m. Ezekial Rubottom Elijah, b.? m. Elizabeth Robinson Lovely, b. 1784? m. Edward (?) Matthews Ransom Sutherland, b. 1787, m. Mary "Polly" Kelley Overton, b. 1789, m. Civility Rubottom Wayne Co. history says that Lovely's husband killed Sally's husband with a handspike, but was acquitted on the grounds of self-defense. One of Lovely's descendants says they have the wrong Matthews. Everyone seems to think that Overton married his own niece, but I don't see any reason why Civility couldn't have been one of Ezekial's sisters rather than his daughter.
