GLENN JOHNSON BLASSINGAME

Glenn Johnson Blassingame, 95, of Memphis, died Thursday, June 5, 1997 at Morgan Health Care Center.

Services were Saturday, June 7, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park.

Mrs. Blassingame devoted her life to the arts and charity. She was a published poet and' a member of the Tennessee Poetry Society. She was among the founding members of Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center. She was a graduate of the Hutchison School in Memphis and attended the University of California at Berkeley, studied voice in Italy and worked in New York as a model, church soloist and employee of The New York Times.

Mrs. Blassingame was a member of St. John's Methodist Church, the Beethoven Club, Le Bonhcur Travel Club, Brooks Ark League, Little Glass Club, Renaissance Music Club, Gamma Phi Beat sorority and Senior Citizens Services Inc.

She is the widow of Dr. Charles C. Blassingame, formerly of Prentiss and Tippah Counties.

She is survived by a brother, Neely Johnson of Port Arthur, Texas; two nieces,. Mary Storey Lancaster of Booneville and Willetta Dixon of Memphis; five nephews, Jack Blassingame, Ivan Blassingame and James Blassingame, all of Booneville, Jimmy Blassingame of Independence, Miss., and John Blassingame of Mobile, Ala.
